Heysenior ("we", "us") develops Instant Search & Quick Filters (the "App"), a Shopify app that adds instant search, product filters, product recommendations and a vehicle finder to Shopify online stores. This policy explains what information the App collects from merchants who install it and from the visitors of their stores, how that information is used, how long it is kept and the choices you have. By installing or using the App you agree to this policy.

1. Information we receive from your store

When you install the App, Shopify shares your store's information with us: the store's myshopify.com domain, store name, the store owner's email address, the store's plan, languages and markets, and an API access token that lets the App work with your store. Subscriptions are billed by Shopify: we only keep the identifier of your subscription and the plan you chose, never payment card details.

To provide its features the App reads and stores a copy of your catalog: products, variants, images, collections, tags, inventory levels, locations and publication status. It can read your themes to check that its blocks are installed, and it can upload image files to your store's Files when you create color swatches. The App adds its widgets through Shopify theme app extensions; it does not edit your theme code.

Order data and protected customer data

If you grant the App access to orders, it reads your orders for one purpose only: personalization, meaning the "frequently bought together" and "recently purchased" product recommendations shown in your store. Shopify classifies order data as protected customer data, and the App handles it as follows:

  • Minimum data. The App keeps only the order identifier, the identifiers of the products in the order, their quantities and the order date. Customer names, email addresses, postal addresses, phone numbers, notes and payment details are discarded before anything is stored and never reach our database, queues or logs.
  • Purpose limitation. Order data is used only to generate recommendations for your store. It is never used for marketing, profiling, analytics about individual customers, or any purpose unrelated to the App, and it is never sold or shared.
  • Retention. Order lines are kept for a rolling 90 days and deleted automatically afterwards, and in full when the App is uninstalled.
  • Access and security. Order data is transmitted over encrypted connections and is accessible only to the people who operate the App, for support and maintenance.
  • Customer requests. When Shopify forwards a customer's data access or erasure request, we remove any stored order lines connected to that customer's orders and confirm the request through Shopify.

2. Information collected from your store's visitors

The App's storefront widgets record anonymous usage statistics so that you can see how search and filters perform in your store: the search terms typed, searches that returned no results, the filters and values selected, the products opened or added to the cart from the App's results, and daily totals. These records belong to your store and are not linked to a person. We do not collect visitor names, email addresses, accounts, precise location or device fingerprints, and we do not track visitors across other websites.

The widgets use the visitor's browser storage (session storage and local storage) only for features of your store, such as remembering recently viewed products, the selected vehicle or the chosen layout. They set no advertising or third-party tracking cookies.

As with any web service, our servers may process a visitor's IP address and browser type when the widget requests search results. This technical data is used only for security and troubleshooting and is not combined with the statistics above.

3. How we use the information

  • To run the App: build the search index, filters, recommendations and vehicle finder for your store, and keep them updated through Shopify webhooks.
  • To show you analytics about search and filter usage in the App's admin.
  • To provide support, bill your subscription through Shopify and tell you about changes to the App.
  • To keep the service secure and prevent abuse.

We do not sell or rent any information, and we do not use your store's data or your visitors' data for advertising or for any purpose other than operating the App.

4. Who we share information with

We share information only with Shopify, as required to operate the App and your subscription; with the infrastructure providers that host and secure our servers, which process data on our behalf under contract; and with authorities when the law requires it. We do not share your data with any other third party.

5. Retention and deletion

  • Store information, settings and the catalog copy are kept while the App is installed.
  • Order lines are kept for a rolling 90 days and then removed automatically.
  • Usage statistics are kept while the App is installed so that your analytics history stays available.

When you uninstall the App, Shopify notifies us. If the App is not reinstalled within 48 hours, we delete your store's data from our systems: the catalog copy, settings, translations, order lines, statistics and subscription records. We keep one snapshot of your app configuration (filters, settings and translations; it contains no personal data and no order data) for up to 180 days, so that you can reinstall without losing your setup; it is deleted automatically afterwards and earlier on request. Copies held in backups expire on their regular rotation cycle. You can also ask us to delete your data at any time using the contact below.

Shopify forwards your customers' data access and erasure requests to us. Because we do not store personal information about your customers, we confirm each request and remove any stored order lines connected to it.

6. Security

Information is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS), API access tokens are stored encrypted, and access to our production systems is limited to the people who operate the App. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; if you believe your store's data has been compromised, contact us immediately.

7. Your rights

You can ask us to access, correct, export or delete the information we hold about your store by writing to the address below. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we act as a data processor for your visitors' statistics and your order data, and as a data controller for your merchant account information; you may also lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. If you are a California resident, note that we do not sell personal information.

8. Children

The App is intended for merchants and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the App or the law changes. The date at the top shows the latest version, and material changes are announced in the App's admin or by email to the store owner.
